Movement versus Exercise, using words to change your mindset..

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

A great way to get social is invite your friends, new and old, to an 'active play date' .. (rather than meeting at a restaurant or coffee shop where there's temptation to indulge)

You're adding value to your time by socialising whilst moving your body.

People are more likely to relax and feel comfortable connecting on a deeper level, and after 45 minutes your brain releases feel good hormones and a few other goodies that fire up your metabolism.. #bonus!

Language is so important! Use the word 'move' rather than 'exercise'..

Some people subconsciously view exercise as punishment or associate it with pain.

Movement on the other hand is much easier for our brains to support.

So rather than saying 'I have to exercise every day', focus on 'I choose to move every day'..

Note: when you tell yourself you 'have' to do something it creates resistance in the brain. When you say 'I choose', your subconscious mind goes to work to support you and you'll find it SO much easier to stay on course!

Surround yourself with people who make you laugh, who challenge you, push you, make you better, and who enjoy movement, fun and mischief!

One thing we often resist when we are feeling down is spending time with others. Just commit to going for a walk with someone a few times, notice how you feel, and remember they may need it just as much as you do..
